“I’m sure he’s grown at least an inch since I left.” The Doctor bounced his baby son in his arms and placed a soft kiss on the little one’s head.
“Sweetie, you’ve only been gone two days.” River rolled her eyes, an indulgent smile playing on her face as she watched the reunion of father and son.
“Only two days? I could have sworn It was more like a month.” The Doctor looked somewhat lost in thought for a moment, while the tiny Time Lord in his arms contented himself with trying to get his fathers bow tie into his mouth. ”I suppose the old girl must have gotten her time coordinates right for a change.”
“She never gets her coordinates wrong when I fly her.” River announced with hint of smugness, while the Doctor attempted to disentangle his sons fingers from his bow tie. ”What’s that old saying, Sweetie? Something about a bad workman blaming his tools?”
The Doctor shot his wife a sidelong glance, torn between annoyance at her words and awe at the sight of her. In the end he settled for sarcasm. ”Well, we can’t all be children of the TARDIS.” He turned his attention back to their son, who currently had a fist full of the Doctor’s hair. ”Now, Rory Augustus Jamie Song, Mummy might think she’s the only one who can fly the TARDIS properly but Daddy got along just fine for hundreds of years before Mummy came along. Didn’t he?” The baby cooed and pointed his chubby little hand towards River. ”Well of course you think Mummy’s a better pilot than daddy, you’ve only been in the TARDIS twice. And, you are tiny bit biased.”
